TATOO APPRENTICESHIP

Training Program

If you're looking to pursue a career as a licensed and certified PMU (tattoo) artist, our apprenticeship program is the perfect opportunity for you. Our program offers a comprehensive approach to PMU certification that goes beyond the traditional aesthetics and cosmetology training. With only two spots available, our select students will have the unique opportunity to offer their services in the salon while under their apprenticeship and potentially have a permanent salon suite/booth with the instructor. The program also covers all aspects of beauty, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education. Upon completion of the program, students will receive their tattoo license and skill certification, As a requirement for this program, all perspective  students must be a resident residing in the state of Tennessee.  which will enable them to pursue their career as a PMU artist with confidence. Tattoo apprentices

FAST-TRACK TATTOO APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:
PMU Training + Hands-On + Licensing Support in One

Each group of tattoo students  training class has a maximum seating amount of 2-4 students. This is set in place to ensure that every student gets all the attention they need to make sure that they grasp the techniques to master this skill. A complete training-to-licensing experience for aspiring PMU artists. Train with a licensed educator, work on live models, and get fully licensed to launch your own beauty brand.

  • Program Investment: $7000

  • Program Duration: 6-12 weeks  (Flexible)

  • Credit Hours: 60-75

  • Prerequisite: State of Tennessee Requirements

-Before enrollment all students must complete these requirements before starting hands-on training:

- Blood borne Pathogen Certification (OSHA-compliant) INFECTION CONTROL TRAINING LINK ABOVE

- Hepatitis B Vaccine Series (or signed waiver)

- Valid Government-Issued ID

- Apprentice Application (filed with local Health Department)​

-CPR/First Aid certificate​

-Short nails only; No "junk/3D" nail designs

  • Course Time: Sundays and one day of the week ( Tuesday evenings)

  • Dress Code: All Black scrubs + Closed toe shoes

 Phase 1- PMU basics (Week 1-2)

       -Sanitation & Safety Guidelines

       -Salon Sanitation 

       -Skin Theory + Fitzpatrick Scale

       -Pigment color theory

       - Machine Mastery: Stretch, Pressure & Technique

       -Practice on Latex Skins (Start log hours )

       -Visual demo by instructor

      -Certificate: PMU Fundamentals​

Phase 2- PMU basics (Week 3-6)

       -Brow Mapping

       -Client Relations+ Customer service

       -Learn to explain aftercare

       -Greeting customers – to relax and address fears

      -Learn basic bedside manners: 
       -Answering telephone and chat box – FAQs

        -Read, understand, and possibly update our fainting procedure

        -Learn ways to keep the client relaxed and comfortable
        -Be able to answer any and all questions regarding set-up, break down, and the procedure itself
        -What to do if a client is feeling faint or nauseous
      -Ergonomics in the salon

       -Supervised Model Sessions 1-3 models)

       - Client service set up and break down

       -Photography & portfolio building 

        -Consent forms & post-care protocols

        -Start promoting the shop – web, submissions, fliers, radio, business cards, social media, etc.

        -Portfolio Documentation + Progress Review

         -Visual demos by instructor

        -Certificate: Hands-On Application

        -Supervised Model Sessions 2-6 models)

        -Business Startup Guidance (Pricing, Branding, Booking Systems)

       -Certificate of Completion 

       - Portfolio Documentation + Progress Review

       Tattoo Apprentice license at the start of program.If you start the program in the middle of the year the license must be renewed at the end of each year in December. EX; Apprenticeship start date 6/1/2025 (pay license fee) | Apprentice licence expires December 2025 (pay renewal fee) | Conclusion of apprenticeship 6/1/2026 (inform health department for license conversion fee may be required) | Tattoo license expires December 2026 (pay renewal fee). When completing program the license is then converted to a full Artist License once the renewal fees are paid. More info can be found by contacting your local health department

Tattoo apprenticeship: Duration is one year. Tennessee requires 1 yr of tattoo apprenticeship to offer this service in TN. Please check with you state and local health departments. Available for beginners and advanced students that resides in the state of Tennessee
